Jaqueline "Grinning Bear" Rodriguez is of Kanesatake Mohawk and Taino descent. She began her journey of wood working at age 6 aside her father Francisco Rodriguez, a jack-of-all-trades and master carpenter. Raised in the Champlain Valley, she grew up as an avid farmer/cultivator; as such she is heavily influenced by ther beauty of nature and its geometric components and healing qualities.
She is driven to create functional art involving portraiture and sacred works. She carries her cultural inheritance forward, producing works in the mediums of wooden alchemy boxes/keepsakes, and healing stones and adornments.
